First and foremost, Hawkeye is intended for use in a lab setting with knowing participants. Eye tracking can only be conducted within the Hawkeye app, so it’s impossible for 3rd party apps to track unknowing users in the background.
Before every test, participants must grant us permission to track their eyes and record their screen. Our calibration process further informs participants that eye tracking will occur. This ensures users always know exactly what information is being collected.
By using the TrueDepth camera on new iOS devices, we conduct accurate eye tracking locally on-device. This means we don’t upload any video data of your face. This makes for an easy-to-use eye tracking experience that protects your personal information.
